Jayden Kramer, a Riverside Christian School eighth-grader helps out at the recent auction!
I love to hear success stories and here’s another one!
Students, faculty and parents at Riverside Christian School in East Grand Forks are thanking God and one another for the very successful live and silent auction held there on March 19, 2011.
This was the sixth annual such event and this time $21,000 was raised with all monies earmarked for tuition assistance for students. That’s $11,000 over last year’s auction which netted $10,000.
More than 200 people came to the auction to bid on 200 items. Teresa LeTexier was coordinator and Joe Chine, Riverside’s Growth and Development Officer said the support of local media, numerous school volunteers and generous donations from many individuals, churches and businesses made the evening what it was.
You’ve heard it said that it takes a village to raise a child? Well this is proof positive of how that works.
This year Riverside Christian has 149 preschool through eighth-grade students – and now there’s another fun event in the making.
Sixth through eighth grade students are rehearsing for the school’s first ever dinner theater. “State Road 47,†will be presented May 6 and 7. Fifth-grade students and parents will be dinner servers.
“State Road 47,†centers on three parables of Jesus that happened along a road. They are retold by hilarious characters and memorable music.
The parable of the sower is told by a farmer and his wife using birds, plants and thorns.
The parable of the Good Samaritan is set in the 1950s. It will include some pious church ladies, a self-righteous evangelist, and Sam, the biker dude.
The third parable is of the Prodigal Son and will include tough street-wise kids, pigs and a tax collector.
Krisha Fuller, the schools vocal and music teacher is director. I’ve seen and heard what Krisha can bring forth from her students and it is amazing!
Dinner theater tickets are $25. That includes the musical, a two course meal, beverage and dessert.
There are 104 reserved seats available each night. After each performance, there will be another request for donations. For tickets, call the school at (218) 773-1770.
