It’s been a Your QFM surround sound Monday at my house. The Bose radios are on in the bedroom and the kitchen so no matter where I go the music and the messages go with me.
What an exciting Valentine’s Day gift this is to Grand Forks! The commercial Christian radio station Your QFM (104.9), based in Fosston, Minn., began live programming from its very lovely new studio in South Town Center at 2524 S. Washington St. The studio is in the same building where I go every Saturday for my drum lesson with Bernie and it’s been great fun to watch the progress and now to see it completed.
You can see it, too, during an open house from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 15). They will have prizes and drawings plus cake from a new place in the Grand Cities Mall called, “Oh For Heaven’s Cakes.” Is that not a wonderful name for a business?Kerri Drees, who has been a disc jockey on a local country station for several years, is Your QFM’s new program director. Her show, “Mid-Day with Kerri,” will be heard from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. And Holly Sabelman (below), who was a pastor at Hope Evangelical Covenant Church from 2008 to 2010, is also on staff. Among other things, Holly will do, “Looking Up With Holly,” week days from 7:30 p.m. to midnight.
There are many other good things to listen to on Your QFM such as Family Life with Dennis Rainey, Focus on the Family, 60 Minutes with Phil (that’s Phil Ehlke, general manager for Your QFM), Breakpoint with Chuck Colson, the Dave Ramsay Show, Total Axxess with Wally, Minnesota Teen Challenge, and of course lots and lots of wonderful Christian music.
Jim and I stopped in at the new studio right after lunch today. Kerri was still on the air but we had a chance to chat with Holly and Teresa LeTexier, sales rep for Your QFM.
Holly said Your QFM isn’t “just a station for believers, but for people who don’t know Christ as well. “Hopefully, they will listen and come to know God,” she said.
It’s kind of neat that tucked in the back of the studio there’s office space for three other ministries: Prepare, a college campus missionary group with Derrick Biggs, director; Campus Crusade for Christ with Tim Spark, director, and Youth for Christ, with Cody Weckerly, director.
Be sure to stop by the open house on Tuesday. Look for the brightly colored Your QFM Subaru parked right in front of the studio. Trust me — you can’t miss it!
